*Two things to say about this:
1. Don’t ever use “the system is broken” as an excuse to stop you from doing what you can for individual people.
2. Meadows is a Leftist so her examples tend to be left-leaning. However, her ideas on ways to conceptualize and model problems and solutions are universally applicable across the entire political spectrum, in ways she may not have anticipated.

Meadows’s very much a liberal, not a leftist.
I apologise for commenting on a book I’ve not read but I got a shiver up my spine when I read that description - it’s got the fingerprints of Davos all over it. Systems theory is popular with that crowd because it hides the politics from what are essentially political problems.

Classical liberalism has nothing to do with either of what’s called libertarian or conservative in the united states. Nor is it closely related to the “neoliberal” democrat party and certainly not to leftists. US politics is almost uniformly dominated with authoritarianism, with the only exception being a fringe subset of the self-labelling libertarians who also take capitalist ideology to parodic extremes.

I’m a social democrat and nothing makes me chuckle more than some sanctimonious American Marxists who come out of the woodworks after reading a few Engels monographs and begin lecturing everyone as the if the entire world has been blind to their genius ideas. Lay it a rest. Read the book before judging it. FFS.
