Science has long said, “another persons personal experience means nothing to me.”
Here we have a scientist ignoring science by giving more credence to his own personal experience than to what he knows to be true.
Oh well. Each to his own.

lol….nok, so a scientest should ignore all experiental evidence if it contradicts the paradigm? science (serious scientests, not the few on the lunatic fringe) tells us that because of the insane amount of exact parameters needed for even us to exist, that it is VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERY unlikely intelligent life exists out there on another planet….so if I, as a scientist, am kidnapped by aliens and probed then dropped off a week later at my house, should I then say “well, i know scientifically that probably didn’t just happen because it’s unlikely aliens exist”. I ask you this, prove to me SCIENTIFICALLY that God and heaven don’t exist, don’t give me philosophical mumbo-jumbo and don’t set up strawmen, give me absolute scientific proof that an omnipotent omniscient omnipresent creator does not exist

This is not really the place for this debate, but any scientist will tell you that EVIDENCE will trump experience every time.
As for proving a god or a heaven DON’T exist, you have it the wrong way round. The onus is on the person making the claim for the existence of such entities to provide the evidence. Proving a negative is impossible. Given the lack of ANY incontrovertible evidence for a god, the logical conclusion must be that it doesn’t exist.

Thank You!

Well said Nok. I get sick and tired of this inverted logic. I agree - you can’t prove a negative. Scientific method also has *repeatability* at its heart. “Evidence” has to be demonstrated and a theory/postulation proved by different people … [SIGH].

Well as far as I’m concerned Dawkins can have a break while I attend to some scientific fantasy!
If it turns out to be the Celestine Prophecies mark III I give it what for…

shouldnt this be in the comedy section?

Many Thanks and one special Bertie Russell Orbiting Teapot for you, antgilio!

I am sorry, but this is no science.

The body is for science … The soul is given by god .

This scientist who says he has glimpsed the after life believes what he says. Unfortunately the chemical and physiological changes that take place at death are not fully understood and his experience is anecdotal. The inherent problem with studying anything like this is that essentially you have the Human Brain examining itself. It’s a problem. lol
And any Atheist worth his/her salt would never say, “there is no god” There simply is no evidence for it. Period.
However the supposition that there is a god shares something with a so-called scientific theory that is also untestable. String Theory. The existence of god and string theory are identical in one way. There is no way to prove the validity of either through experiment.
For the one, you must die to get your answer. And for the other, I”m not sure if we ever will.

so, proof of a Creator=Math & Databasing. The pbysics of cause and effect MATTER, have value, serve a purpose to the Creator of space-time physics just as a spreadsheet has value, provides knowledge. If none of this mattered then there could be pink unicorns on tues & no need for earwigs. DATA, CONSTELLATIONS, AND ROCKS ALL are SELF-DESCRIBING & relate through Functional Dependencies. Dang smart. THE UNIVERSE is EXACTLY WHAT I WOULD’VE CREATED IF I COULD’VE THOUGHT OF IT. It’s GENIUS, WITTY, INVESTED & GROWS GROWTH…again, GENIUS

Lots of people feel superior when they mock religious people as if they were stupid. Says a lot about the mockers.
Religiosity is positively correlated with happiness and leading fulfilling lives.
So maybe they’re doing something right?
May 9th, 2016
Why is proving a negative impossible? Where is the proof of that?
August 6th, 2016
Uh… Rob, I have something to tell you. Religiosity is also positively correlated with genocide, suicide bombings, bigotry, hypocrisy, ignorance of reality, homo-phobia, assumptions of personal religion’s superiority, etc.
Sure, I might be happier believing that one day I’ll get a letter accepting me to Hogwarts, and that I’ll learn how to defeat dark wizards with magic spells, but that isn’t true. What would be even worse is if I started looking for dark wizards in everyone around me, and considered those not in my made up Gryffindoor to be inferior. Better to steer clear of believing in fiction and focus on caring for what is actually around us.

Rob, drugs make people happy. Is that a good thing? Should we keep believing in Santa Claus long after adulthood because it makes children happy? So let’s stay happy? Or should we just become adults and face the truth, whatever it is, and accept the world as it is, make our peace with it, and find a new way of living in it, instead of trying to see the world as we would like it to be, like religious people do.
Steve I completely agree with you.
The real question is: why do people need religions? Which are just symptoms of a deeper mechanism. We shouldn’t waste our time attacking religons, but try to get to the bottom of this issue.

Science is a method to test veracity.
I really cant believe I have to say that to anybody in the 21st century.
Furthermore, anecdotal evidence, no matter how compelling, is WORTHLESS. You can have a thousand witnesses to an event and if the physical evidence contradicts their eyewitness testimony, you must ALWAYS go with the physical evidence.
So, until someone can bring forth tangible proof of heaven, it is not real.
And I really dont care about comments dealing with parameters or how the universe looks to a person. NONE of that is evidence for a deity, because it can all be explained without a need for deity. Instead. I want something that is INCONTROVERTIBLE and can be available for retests. Gimme something falsifiable if you want to convince me.
October 9th, 2016
For people who are so convinced that something isn’t real, you are incredibly defensive. If you are so certain God doesn’t exist, why argue? Why are you even listening to this book? Move on.

The evidence for the afterlife cannot be debated through science. people who die are all having very profound experiences that cannot be measured or proven by science. Or explained by the brain releasing drugs at the time of death, But the fact that people all over the world have similar experiences, yet very personal, gives a lot of evidence that there is an afterlife. Unless you know a lot about it, anything else you say is pointless. But I know its the most important thing to know, the reason why we are here. And to understand that, you hav to do a lot of research.
