Shermer leans in the libertarian direction politically, but based on your comment, which sounds politically strident and tribal, you may miss the point of Shermer, which is more about rationalism than politics.
But, if you are one of those that think the Coronavirus is a joke, or that anthropogenic climate change is nonsense you should probably look elsewhere.
