  The planet is not in need of saving. Not once in my almost 60 years on this planet has it ever mentioned to me that it is need of saving. Other creatures never mention it either. There is only one creature on this planet that insists the planet needs saving but it don’t know what it’s taking about. I think what this gang of rapacious apes really means id they need saving, but they are incapable of speaking directly & honestly. It’s code for please help us save ourselves from ourselves. I’ll wager there will not be any humans left when 2100 rolls around. If the humans were even remotely serious about saving themselves they would have stopped unchecked breeding. Births - deaths and it’s still a net 90 million new high consuming mouths to feed every year. * billion and growing in spite of the undeniable fact that runaway climate change is well underway and climate change Jacked disasters have been smashing the record books for over a decade. If someone asks what can the humans do to bring on the most amount of pain & suffering? A, don’t change a thing and keep the false hope alive with these bunk cheer leading books. I’d say this hopium dealer clown should have his Phd revoked, but it does not matter - damage done. Dozens of unstoppable positive self reinforcing feedback lops are underway and there is at least another 2.5C is baked in. Another hothouse mass extinction is practically a lock and the humans have not slowed on bit. Except for a financial crash 2008 & covid (slight slow downs) humans continue to increase their greenhouse gas emissions and the rate as well - more & faster a double whammy. Only a fool could look at the data and be positive & only an innumerate, earth history ignorant sadist would bring children into this world.

  But market economists (and their related politicians) don’t understand the Earth battery metaphor anymore than they do the laws of thermodynamics, says Schramski and his collaborators.

  “Ironically, powerful political and market forces, rather than acting to conserve the remaining charge in the battery, actually push in the opposite direction because the pervasive efforts to increase economic growth will require increased energy consumption.”

  It’s merely a marketing ploy. In order to get on the bestseller list, your book title has to have one of four things: 1. contain the name of a well-known US president, 2. offer a cure for cancer, 3. offer a one-size-fits-all easy fix to readers’ problems, no matter what they are, or 4. offer a vague solution to save the planet from whatever form of catastrophe happens to be fashionable.

  Almost all problems on planet Earth can be traced to one root cause: overpopulation by humans. Yet it seems to be a taboo in the mainstream media. Only consequential side issues, such as greenhouse gas emissions, over-fishing, deforestation, saturation of agricultural land with fertilizers, etc.etc., are reported and commented. Earth and life on it will survive till the sun goes out in 4 billion years or so - with or without humans.
  @apnea: I only have 22 years to 100 and hope that human civilization will make it till then.
