In this brilliant, essential book, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Thomas L. Friedman speaks to America’s urgent need for national renewal and explains how a green revolution can bring about both a sustainable environment and a sustainable America.
Friedman explains how global warming, rapidly growing populations, and the expansion of the world’s middle class through globalization have produced a dangerously unstable planet–one that is “hot, flat, and crowded.” In this Release 2.0 edition, he also shows how the very habits that led us to ravage the natural world led to the meltdown of the financial markets and the Great Recession. The challenge of a sustainable way of life presents the United States with an opportunity not only to rebuild its economy, but to lead the world in radically innovating toward cleaner energy. And it could inspire Americans to something we haven’t seen in a long time–nation-building in America–by summoning the intelligence, creativity, and concern for the common good that are our greatest national resources.
Hot, Flat, and Crowded is classic Thomas L. Friedman: fearless, incisive, forward-looking, and rich in surprising common sense about the challenge–and the promise–of the future.

Did anyone see the latest numbers on global temperature, sea level, etc.?
Stop being played for total fools. This whole thing has been a giant scam and I’m afraid it is going to cause a dangerous counter-swing and hurt true environment conservation.
Are any of the people who have have been subscribing to many of these establishment narratives beginning to get uncomfortable as some of these situations have proven to be less than honest, total lies, and covers for far more sinister motivations?

Columbia21 same cut-N-paste denier comment from 30 years ago.
Columbia21 do you feel lonely being among the last tiny herd of climate deniers?
frg7700, your comment is also same cut-N-paste denier comment from 30 years ago.
You 2 could not be more unoriginal.
You better hurry and do that stuff while you still can.
Clearly neither of you live in California or Florida which are getting pounded by record smashing climate change jacked rain & flooding - biblical style
What I am providing is called evidence. You little fellas have no evidence.

*‘Once in every 1,000-2,000 years’: Storm swamps Fort Lauderdale with 25 inches of rain. Live updates*
“South Florida was under siege and under water Thursday amid a storm that dumped 25 inches of rain over some coastal areas, flooding homes and highways and forcing the shutdown of a major airport.
Fort Lauderdale was slammed with 25.95 inches of rainfall in 24 hours, AccuWeather reported. Some areas received 20 inches of rain in six hours. Hollywood and South Miami received at least 9 inches of rain.”

These disasters are not your granddad’s disasters. In the last 100 years we have spent trillions of dollars on hydrologic engineering projects so we can control the water. It worked for a time, but over the last decade ever more powerful storms have walked all over our dykes, dams and other hydrologic engineering projects. These new disasters are tearing us apart like we are made of Lego. There is no way we can rebuild forever. Seriously dude. Your gonna have to grow up fast if you want to make it past the first round or two. Go eat your goodies while they are still there and you can afford them, me I’m eating pork steak cuz I love it and I’m frugal. You might want to pick up some flotation devices for when it’s your turn to get hammered by climate change.

Sea level rise. Did someone say sea level rise?

Sad truth is nothing the USA does is going to make a bit of difference unless China, India, South America and pretty much everyone else does the same. And they never will. Not until we discover a renewable resource that will actually work. That, or cut the population by 70%. I mean by preventing births, not killing anyone, but the Earth is doing a pretty good job of that.

The exaggeration king. If there’s one author who could botch such a subject, that would be Friedman!
